I’m a London-based children’s book editor and writer with over twenty years’ experience. For ten years I worked in-house at Hachette, HarperCollins and Egmont. Since 2015 I’ve been freelancing, for both the big publishers and individual clients.

I can offer clients:

• The right service. If you’re new to the world of publishing, it can be hard to navigate. After working with thousands of authors on projects big and small, I can advise on what’s best for your work, whatever stage you’ve reached in your writing journey.
• Expert guidance on targeting a particular age group. I work across chapter books, Middle Grade, Young Adult and Young Adult/adult crossover.
• Breadth of industry knowledge. I’ve worked in-house or freelance for all the major UK children’s publishers.
• Up-to-date market insight. I’m still freelancing for most of them!
• A tactful but realistic approach. I might not tell you you’re going to be the next JK Rowling but I will advise clearly and honestly on what you need to do to maximise your chances of reaching your chosen audience.

While I’m based in London, I spend about a third of my time volunteering in Ukraine. My work is entirely self-funded, so my freelance clients make it possible – thank you.
